Commencing blogging

Day 223 - Tuesday 11th August
As naff as a first post can be, I thought it might be worth loosely outlining some of my intentions for this blog for future referral.

Whilst making small talk people often ask "what do you do?" as an uninspired attempt to learn something of a persons character. If someones income is generated by folding a piece of paper in three and stuffing it into a pre-addressed envelope this doesn't necessarily dictate that they are incapable of cooking a tasty meal, selecting the right plants for a colourful garden all year round, or contemplating ways of tackling frivolous money lending.

I teach electric guitar ninety days a year and the best way to describe how I spend the rest of my time is "noodling about". This noodling generally includes researching, coming up with, exploring, expanding and realising ideas in the form of short, small, modest projects. It's something I've always done and generally something that kids do to keep busy, exercise their imagination and make a mess of the kitchen and there is no need for us to stop engaging in this exercise of the imagination, no matter how trivial.

This slow, self serving process is what will be documented on this blog, generally presented as information I have found, don't fully understand, investigated to a satisfactory degree and then realised in some form.

Like most people, my weekly routine grew organically from many things. Partly financial necessity, social expectations, geographical limitations, etc, but whatever I ended up doing felt normal to me to some degree (that rhymes). It wasn't until my friend Joe whom I had long been acquainted, but never hosted came to stay for seven days that it became apparent that perhaps my creative endeavours might be interesting to some people (creatives, or otherwise).

The first few posts will be retrospective documentations of projects already undertaken over the last three years or so which I will try to write in the respective head space of each project. Once I have got as far as blogging projects one year from now it may be sufficiently far away to reflect on this first post and observe if my intentions have been met, ideas fulfilled and artistic progress made.

P.S. For anyone just about to make their own blog on blogger.com; I wanted to make posts appear as short 'teasers' on the main page allowing visitors to click through for the full ramble. For some reason I couldn't get the code from the blogger help page to work so the code I used came directly from http://www.eblogtemplates.com/how-to-add-the-blogger-read-more-expandable-posts-link/
